Idli Upma

This is very delicious dish to prepare when you have day old idlis in your refrigerator!

Ingredients

6 Idlis fresh or a day old.
2 green chillies finely chopped
1 Onion finely chopped
4-5 Curry leaves
1 cup of peas
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp urad daal
A pinch of asafoetida
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1tsp oil
Salt per taste
Coriander leaves / Cliantro to garnish

Note: If the idlis are fresh make sure they have cooled completely.

Method

1. Crumble the idlis well with your hands.
2. Add oil to a heated non-stick pan. When the oil is hot enough add the mustard, urad daal and the asafoetida.
3. When the mustard seeds starts spluttering add the curry leaves and the chopped chillies.
4. Add the onions after a few seconds
5. Half way through the sauteing process add Some salt, turmeric powder and chilli powder and mix well and saute until the onion starts turning translucent.
6. Add the peas and continue to saute
7. When the peas have cooked, add the crumbled idlis and fold well into the vegetable mixture.
8. Keep sauteing until the idlis begin to brown.
9. Turn off the stove and garnish with cilantro

This can be enjoyed with any of your favorite chutneys, sambhar or just by itself!
